Children's Dentistry

Gentle first visits, preventive care, sealants and honest guidance for children, in a calm practice where nothing is rushed and nobody is frightened.

Overview

Children's Dentistry at Monaco Dentistry

A child's early dental visits decide whether they grow up comfortable in a dental chair or spend adulthood avoiding one. That is the actual goal of children's dentistry, and it matters more than any single filling. We keep first visits short, show before we do, let children hold the mirror, and never surprise them. Dr. Sohi is a parent herself, and it shows in the pace.

Why it matters

What children's dentistry gives you.

Fear prevented, not treated

Early positive visits are the single best predictor of an adult who books checkups without dread.

Problems caught while small

Children's decay moves fast. Regular checks mean a sealant instead of a filling, and a filling instead of an extraction.

Guidance parents can use

Straight answers on brushing, thumb-sucking, fluoride, sports guards and when orthodontics is worth assessing.

Nitrous available when needed

For children who genuinely cannot settle, nitrous oxide makes necessary treatment possible without trauma.

How it works

What to expect, step by step.

  1. A short first visit

Meeting the room, the chair and the mirror. Often little more than a look and a polish, deliberately.

  2. Exam and prevention

Checking eruption, decay risk and bite, with sealants and fluoride where they will help.

  3. Treatment if needed

Explained to the child in their language and to you in yours, with nitrous available if required.

  4. Growth monitoring

Watching jaw and tooth development so orthodontic timing is a decision, not an accident.

Who it's for

Is this you?

First-time visits from around age one, children due for checkups, anxious children who have had a difficult experience elsewhere, and teens needing sports guards or orthodontic assessment.

Patient stories

What patients say.

“My six-year-old had a bad first experience elsewhere and would not open her mouth. Three visits here and she asks when she is going back.”
Amanda R. · South Surrey
“Both children seen back to back, everything explained to them directly rather than over their heads. That matters.”
Vikram P. · Surrey

Questions

Children's Dentistry: your questions answered.

When should my child first see a dentist?

Around the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. The first visit is mostly about familiarity and giving you guidance. It is short, and it makes every later visit easier.

My child is terrified after a bad experience. What do you do differently?

We slow everything down and do less than we could at the first appointment. Nothing happens without being shown first, the child controls the stop signal, and we are willing to spend a visit achieving nothing but comfort. Nitrous oxide is there when it is genuinely needed.

Are dental X-rays safe for children?

Yes, at the frequency and doses used here. Digital sensors use a fraction of the radiation of older film, we shield appropriately, and we only take images that will change a decision, not routinely at every visit.

Do you accept the CDCP for children?

Yes. Monaco Dentistry is a CDCP provider, and children have been covered since the plan's earliest phases. Bring your CDCP details and our team will confirm exactly what is covered.
