This policy explains what personal information Monaco Dentistry collects through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers the website only — the dental records we hold for our patients are handled separately, as described below. We have kept it in plain language; if anything is unclear, call or email us and we will explain it.

Monaco Dentistry operates this website and is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

This policy is written to meet our obligations under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to answer your enquiry and to keep the website working well. We do not buy personal information from data brokers, and we do not sell yours.
- Information you give us — when you submit the appointment or enquiry form, or email or call us: your name, email address, phone number, the reason for your enquiry, and anything else you choose to include in your message.
- Information collected automatically — when you browse the site: your IP address (truncated where analytics allows), browser and device type, approximate region, the pages you view, the site or search that referred you, and the time and length of your visit.
- Advertising measurement — if you arrived from one of our Google Ads, whether you then called us, emailed us, or asked for directions. This is reported to us as counts, not as a list of identified people.
- Cookies and similar technologies — small files stored by your browser. See the cookies section below.
Health information and your dental record
This website is not a secure channel for confidential health information. Please do not send us symptoms, diagnoses, images of your mouth, insurance numbers, or other sensitive health details through the website form or by ordinary email — bring them to your appointment, or give them to us over the phone.
If you do include health details in an enquiry, we treat them as confidential and store them with the same care as the rest of your file.
Your clinical record as a patient of this practice is separate from this website. It is created and kept under British Columbia privacy law and the professional and record-keeping obligations that apply to dentists practising in BC, and it is retained for the period those obligations require — which is longer than the website retention period described below. It is never shared with our website, analytics, or advertising providers.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
We use the information above to respond to your enquiry and arrange an appointment, to provide and improve the website, to keep it secure and detect abuse, to measure whether our advertising is working, and to meet our legal, professional and tax obligations.
Under BC's PIPA and PIPEDA we rely on your consent. Giving us your details in the enquiry form so we can reply is consent implied by the act of sending it; for non-essential cookies and for advertising measurement we rely on the consent you give through your browser and cookie choices, and you can withdraw it at any time.
We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone, and we do not profile you for automated decision-making.
Where your information is processed
Some of our service providers process and store information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is outside Canada it may be accessible to the courts and law-enforcement authorities of that country under their laws. We use providers that commit to recognised safeguards for such transfers, and we take reasonable steps to confirm the information receives comparable protection.

How long we keep it
We keep website enquiry details for 24 months from our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or it has become part of your clinical record. Analytics and advertising data is kept in aggregate form according to the provider's retention setting. Clinical records are kept for the longer period that BC law and our professional obligations require. Records we must keep for tax or legal reasons are kept for as long as the law requires, and then destroyed.
Your rights and choices
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop using it for a particular purpose. You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or professional record-keeping requirements and reasonable notice. You can also ask us to stop contacting you.

We may need to verify your identity first — particularly for anything touching a clinical record — and we will only ask for what is necessary to do that.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
We welcome children as patients, and a parent or guardian is expected to make the enquiry on their behalf. This website is intended to be used by adults: we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 13 without a parent or guardian involved. If you believe a child has sent us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
How we protect it
The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and access to enquiry details is limited to the members of our team who need it to reply to you. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — which is why we ask you not to send sensitive health information through the website. If a breach affects your information we will notify you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
Links to other sites
Our site links to other websites and embeds a Google Map. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and this policy does not apply to them. Read their policies before giving them your information.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will make that clear on this page.
