Botox & Facial Aesthetics

Therapeutic and cosmetic Botox delivered by a dentist and Canadian Board of Aesthetic Medicine member, for clenching and jaw tension as well as lines.

Overview

Botox & Facial Aesthetics at Monaco Dentistry

Dentists spend their careers working in the muscles of the face, which is why Botox sits naturally alongside dentistry. Dr. Sohi is a member of the Canadian Board of Aesthetic Medicine and offers it both therapeutically, for masseter clenching, jaw tension and related headache patterns, and cosmetically for expression lines. The approach is conservative: enough to soften, never enough to freeze.

Why it matters

What botox & facial aesthetics gives you.

Therapeutic as well as cosmetic

Masseter treatment relieves clenching and jaw tension, and can slim a heavily overdeveloped jawline as a side effect.

Treated by someone who knows the anatomy

Facial muscles, nerves and jaw function are a dentist's daily working knowledge.

Conservative dosing

Started low and reviewed at two weeks. Softened expression, not a frozen face.

Combined with your dental plan

Where clenching is destroying teeth, Botox and a nightguard work better together than either alone.

How it works

What to expect, step by step.

  1. Consultation

What you want changed, your medical history, and whether the concern is muscular, dental or both.

  2. Assessment at rest and in movement

Muscles assessed dynamically, because the injection map depends on how your face actually moves.

  3. Treatment

A short appointment with fine needles. Most patients return to their day immediately.

  4. Two-week review

Results are assessed once fully developed and topped up if needed, rather than overdosing at the first visit.

Who it's for

Is this you?

Patients who clench or grind and still have jaw tension despite a nightguard, people with tension headache patterns linked to masseter overuse, and adults wanting conservative treatment of forehead, frown or crow's-feet lines.

Patient stories

What patients say.

“I came for jaw tension rather than cosmetic reasons and got both. My jaw is calmer and my jawline is softer.”
Sarah V. · White Rock
“Conservative and well judged. It looks like I slept well, not like I had something done.”
Leila M. · Surrey

Questions

Botox & Facial Aesthetics: your questions answered.

Why would I get Botox at a dental office?

Because the muscles involved are the ones dentists work with every day. Masseter and temporalis treatment for clenching is a dental problem with a muscular solution, and Dr. Sohi is a member of the Canadian Board of Aesthetic Medicine. It also means your jaw joint, bite and tooth wear are assessed as part of the same visit.

How long does it last?

Typically three to four months for cosmetic treatment and often a little longer for masseter treatment. Effects build over three to fourteen days rather than appearing immediately.

Will I look frozen?

Not with conservative dosing and a two-week review. We deliberately start lower than the maximum and add if needed, because you can always add and you cannot subtract.

Can Botox help my grinding?

It can reduce the force your jaw muscles generate, which relieves tension and protects teeth, but it does not address why you grind. It works best combined with a custom nightguard and, where relevant, bite adjustment.
